So yesterday, I was given an opportunity to cover MTV Music Evolution in Manila 2016, one of the biggest music events in the country, through my Manila Concert Junkies Family and Eccentric Yet Happy.
It was actually my first time attending an open ground standing concert. At first I was a bit nervous because I’m not a fan of big crowds. It makes me nauseous. Good thing my co-writers were with me at the VIP tent to help me eased my tension and enjoy the whole show.
Also, what amazes me was despite the downpour of rain everyone was still on party mode. Hats off to the people at mosh pit area! They were standing there for like four hours straight with their rain coat on, dancing and singing along with their favorite artist — Gary and Gab Valenciano, Nadine Lustre and James Reid, Bebe Rexha, Apink, Far East Movement and One Republic.
#MTVMUSICEVO2016 PERFORMANCES
Seeing Gary V performed live for the first time was a total check on my bucket list. I’m a fan of him since I was a kid. It gives me joy whenever I see him perform his songs like ‘Hataw Na’, ‘Sa Yahweh’, and etc. I bet you feel like dancing too when you hear his songs. Its like you were programmed to automatically dance. Move it Girl! And what’s even more exciting was that Gab performs along with him. Double the energy, double the fun. What a great way to start the show right?
Speaking of double! Filipino pop darlings Nadine Lustre and James Reid got our hearts with their “super kilig” performances — ‘Para-paraan’, ‘Huwag Ka Nang Humirit’, ‘Randomantic’, ‘Me & You’, ‘Paligoy’, ‘This Time’, ‘No Erase’, and ‘Bahala Na’. Pinusuan ko na si James Reid!!! hahaha charot!
I got inspired when American singer-songwriter Baby Rexha started telling us how she started with her singing career before she sang her famous songs: ‘Monster’, ‘Me Myself and I’; ‘Hey Mama’, ‘No Broken Hearts’, ‘I’m Gonna Show You Crazy’ and ‘Take Me Home.
Apink was the main reason why I’m so determined to watch MTV Music Evolution 2016. I wanted to see Mr. Chu being performed live on stage and I did! *sparkly smile*. If you watched the live stream yesterday, you will see how ‘daebak’ their performance and how awesome pink pandas were. Oh those fanchants and pink effects! Wow! I Love Bomi and Eunji BTW!
Event hosts MTV Asia VJs Alan Wong, and Hanli Hoefer along with MTV Pinoy VJs Yassi Pressman and Andre Paras; played a quiz game, distribute MTV T-shirts and took on Trumpet dance with the audience in between each performances while waiting for the next performers to be ready.

I, along with other people started dancing, singing, jumping, and totally moving when L.A grown electric dance trio Kev Nish, Prohgress and J-Splif, and DJ Virman of Far East Movement (FEM) turned up the music with their break out hits ‘Like a G6’, ‘Rocketeer’, ‘MTV is so ILL’ to name a few.

I almost tear up when One Republic, composed of 5 members: Ryan Tedder (lead vocals), Zach Filkins (guitar, viola), Drew Brown (guitar piano), Eddie Fisher (drums, percussion), and Brent Kutzle (bass and cello), performed ‘Stop and Stare’ and ‘Apologize’. It’s really moving. I can totally feel the emotions within the song! No wonder they were the highlight of the night! Their songs were totally memorable. As they say, you save the best for last. I think I’ll be inspired for a couple of weeks as I listen to their spotify playlist.
