My Digital Lifestyle for a Day

Posted on February 22, 2015 | by karenmeetsworld | Category: Blogging Life

My Globe My Lifestyle

Being a blogger and at the same time a corporate girl, requires me to be online every day. Which makes me pretty much dependent on my phone and the internet.  I go gaga whenever for no reason I left my phone at home or there’s no wifi. Because, I want to respond to emails on-time and connect with my readers as much as I can. I get this idea and imagine scenarios of important opportunities that I let pass because I have no phone or worst no internet. I don’t know why I think that way. But, yeah! You can say that my phone and internet is an extension of my life. Without it I feel incomplete (naks! parang tagline lang ng mga lumalovelife, chos! hehe).

What usually happens is that whenever I go out with my friends and do some outdoor activities (these locations don’t have internet), I end up not updating my IG, twitter, or Fb. I actually upload it right after I got home or the next day on my blog which is a bit late. This happens to me a lot of times, and every time I get into the same situation. I still feel a bit disappointed.

To brighter things up for me, I heard my cousin who is also using postpaid that Globe Telecom has this GoSurf and #MyLifestyle promos to let globe users connected to the internet wherever they are and whatever time they want. GoSurf is the new consumable mobile internet plan of Globe. It gives you bulk megabytes of mobile data consumable per kilobyte. And also allows you to surf, post, like and more! While #MyLifestyle is a new postpaid plan with built-in unli calls, texts, and a world of digital content to choose from — music, productivity, social and life. It’s definitely made for the way we live now! This is a perfect package for everyone, especially to those people like me who wants to be always online. You don’t have to worry about having no wifi anymore and not being able to share your shenanigans while its happening.  Because internet is just a *143# dial away.

I got to try GoSurf for myself when I was in Marikina for a 5-day looong work. And it was amazing! 🙂 I get to post tweets, and photos online; and have a chat with my parents, cousins, friends and family through viber, because I was connected to the internet for only Php 99.00. Its so convenient and affordable! wink wink! 🙂

Ever since then, I use my globe’s internet only as an alternative to wifi. Because it runs with a specific megabytes. But, summing up my app or online presence, I have already practiced and formulated my daily usage or daily digital lifestyle to work on everything I need. Let me show you how I work around it.

Working Days

During weekdays, I normally wake up at around 5:00am and the first thing I do is look at my phone at the bedside table to check the time. Yes! I am one of those people who looks at their phone first thing in the morning. 🙂 And get off to work at around 6:30am.

MONDAY

On my way to work, the first thing I do online is log in at my SPOTIFY account — listen at my good vibes playlists to get me on the groove and on the mood.  It’s the first day of work week, so we have to start the week right and feel good. Simultaneously, I log in into my email account both gmail and yahoo; and facebook to check if there are messages for me. By the time my work starts at 8am, I am no longer online with my social and personal emails — Work hours is Computer hours. 🙂 After work, I watch some videos on youtube while waiting for my aunts’ driver to pick us up. And before I sleep, I read some stories on my ebook.

TUESDAY

Tuesdays and Thursdays are Wattpad Days! In the morning, I read stories on wattpad while listening to some music at spotify. Open my facebook and gmail at lunch and watch on youtube at night.

WEDNESDAY

I actually dedicate my Wednesdays for my readers and friends. I connect with them through viber, line, and whatsapp. Post photos on instagram when I see something pretty. Answer emails and watch youtube at lunch, and listen to music on spotify at night.

THURSDAY

Thursdays and Fridays have a lot of off-times at the office, because its nearing weekend already. I am pretty much online on this day working at my own stuff. I get to respond to both of my yahoo and gmail emails, update my wordpress drafts, browse and post on social media — twitter and IG, read stories on wattpad/ebook and listen to music on spotify.

FRIDAY

You know what they say on a Friday, “Thank God it’s Friday!” Friday is I think the best day for me to reach out to my social media friends! 🙂 I’m everywhere on social media. I also message my friends through whatsapp, read stories on ebook, finalize my wordpress post while listening to music at spotify. And last day of answering emails. As much as possible I try to go online on email only on weekdays.

Weekends

On a weekend, I wake up a bit late, around 9am. Bond with my family and work on my stuff on the internet during siesta hours in the afternoon.

SATURDAY

Saturday is my “Me Time” with WordPress, I post my stories on wordpress every Saturday and Sunday, and share it on social media. If I don’t have an activity or an event to attend to. I also watch my favorite series on youtube and read stories on my ebook.

SUNDAY

Sunday is my rest day. I only browse on social media and watch my favorite series on youtube.

That’s what my Digital Lifestyle is.

I make sure I BALANCE everything from social media to work and blogging. It was a lot, you may say! But, overall it’s fun productive lifestyle.

Do you have your Digital Lifestyle too?

Tell me your story and I will be happy to read it. 🙂

Oh, that’s a lot of social media involvement. Good for you because you manage your time. I’m probably the only blogger who is not into all that stuff, because I don’t really believe in some of them hehe. I prefer a quiet, laid-back lifestyle most of the time, away from a wired world 😉 l only have email, my FB as an anonymous blogger, and my Flickr to host the photos at my blog. I guess they’re enough for me. I’ve been blogging since 2002 with only the three of them, and my own blog domain has survived since 2008, also with the help of only those three 😉 I’m not sure if I’ll add more hehe

      Hi Nortehanon,

Thanks! Been involve with social media to practice SEO too. hehe It’s okay that you only have a few, as long as its manage properly. But, if you want to reach more audience I think it will be good if you add a bit more. 🙂 And Oh btw, I read your blog. It’s so nice of you to do volunteering. No doubt that bloggers should be connected with their phones. The important updates that require immediate response usually comes in when we’re not in front of our laptops / desktop computers.

It also helps me to update social media accounts while on the go or do some client work.

My phone with mobile internet is my mobile workstation. 🙂
