2024 was the year I pushed myself to stand strong. Everything that happened this year made me stand on my own and face it bravely, even though I was scared deep inside.

CAREER. I am grateful for the opportunity to thrive in my career. This year, I successfully implemented projects I spearheaded, despite doing it for the first time. I also had the chance to meet many people through conferences, forums, and meetings I attended and spoke at. It’s not something I had prepared for—physically, emotionally, or mentally. You know, being put out there to do something you’re not confident in, but you have to do it anyway. It’s really nerve-wracking because you don’t know exactly how to do it, but it’s also incredibly satisfying to complete it despite the challenges. It made me pat myself on the back and feel proud of what I achieved.
HEALTH. Thriving in my career has been no easy feat. While I have thrived, I’ve had to sacrifice a lot, including time for myself and time with my family. Spearheading projects has made me:
- Lose sleep. Sometimes, we were awake for 24 hours because of deadlines and events to meet. My body clock became as messy as the thoughts in my head.
- Cry a lot. As I mentioned, everything was new to me, so there were challenges I had to face, sometimes alone. Being in the unknown with no one to hold on to scared me, and my first response was to cry as I did things, even though I was scared.
- Eat unhealthily. I ate a lot because I thought a lot. The food I ate was mostly takeout and junk, because I didn’t have enough time to prepare a proper meal for myself.
These things have really taken a toll on my health. I am aware of it, but I had no choice. I chose this path, so I’ll stand by it.
FINANCE. Tracking my finances has been a challenge for me this year because my income wasn’t consistent. It depended on our project milestones, so my professional service fee was credited in different weeks, or at worst, different months. As a result, I ended up living paycheck to paycheck with little savings.
FAMILY. I spend most of my time at work, so it’s always a happy time for me when I go home to my family. Whether we’re eating out at a restaurant or staying home to eat together and watch a movie on our TV, I cherish those moments.
All these experiences have taught me to believe in myself and realize that there are many things I am capable of if I just trust in my abilities. It’s okay to make mistakes; what matters is learning from them. I’ve also learned that it’s important to make time for everything, as it helps me grow as a person.
I’ll plan my vision board and see you in 2025.
