I’m always been a people-pleaser. I like extending the act of kindness to people (to the best of my capability), because I love seeing them happy! But, after decades of doing those things, I figured that I also have to be kind to myself first before anything else. So, I’ve devised a Project Kindness Plan to Myself 30 days before my birthday
As I write this, I am on the 23rd day of my Project Kindness. And so far, my plan seems working well because I feel good inside and out. I share with you what I had done so far on my Project Kindness.
Try Yoga. My first thing on the list, I tried yoga exercises to calm and relax my mind, body, and soul. It was actually the therapy that helped me start my project right.
Read Books. I know I have enough free-time when I can read books. Reading books is the happiest time of the day for me, because I can explore a different world along with fiction characters. Add to that the coffee, waffle and biscuits on the side of my sofa bed. Hallelujah!
The Big Make-Over. They say that one of the ways to de-stress yourself is by pampering yourself. I couldn’t agree more. One morning, my mentor have decided to give me a big make-over for a treat/Christmas gift. She had treated me for a new haircut (shorter than I expected), shopped me work-clothes, and given me a make-up (yes! a make-up). I feel like I’m a different person, not the bad different, but the great one! The confident ME! and the Version 2.0 of Me! Naks!
Get Enough Sleep. Since it’s a holiday season, I make sure that I get enough sleep. Not only it makes me have a good mood throughout the day but also makes me an active individual.
Go on a Computer/Mobile Strike. I felt the need to be kind to my hand and eyes for the duration of this project. I know I tortured them so much at work, so, I declare a computer/mobile strike. I detached myself muna from social media sites (except blog), email, computer applications/programs and mobile contacts so I can focus on socializing with real people. It feels great connecting with people — seeing them laugh, joke around, and share the same stories, for real. Maybe I can plan a 48-hour strike a week after this project. (Note: Sorry to those people whom I didn’t respond to, I’m still in strike! hihi)
Declutter my Closet and Working Space. It drains my energy when I see cluttered spaces. And annoys me when I had a hard time finding the things and clothes I needed. I started looking at my room and the amount of clutter I accumulated over the past few months were really surprising. I know by my reaction that I needed to do something and if I want to be kind to myself I will clean this now or I will be suffocated forever. I arrange my things in four boxes that says: Toss, Keep, Sell and Donate. After doing so, I am amazed by the space I see. I can now do my yoga and dance there. Great Job to Me!!!
