The “2 Chips Days” Agreement

Posted on July 17, 2014 | by karenmeetsworld | Category: Explore Things

I love eating chips especially on movie nights, studying/working hours, and game days. In fact, every month I have a medium bucket stock of chips in our house. Because, every time we go to the grocery shopping for our necessities, I prioritize buying chips. Haha Kasi naman ang sarap ng chichiria diba? “Oh Cheetos! Oh Pringles! Oh Soya Chips!”.  Tapos you will lick pa the cheese formed on your fingers. Haha I do that! So, sobrang big deal talaga sakin yung pag cut down ng chips sa buong taon.  It took me a while bago mapapayag sa agreement.

The “Chips Days” Agreement was started by my cousins: ate Mab, Jayson, and Khristine, if I am not mistaken last year. They dare themselves to cut down chips just for the sake of “being healthy”. So, they set up dates twice every month, where they are only allowed to eat Chips — including but not limited to Mr. Chips, Piattos, Cheetos, and Lays, etc. And those with the same packaging – Eggnog, Bread Pan, Pillows, etc. (Note: those brands are just representations only to give example) While on the remaining days outside their agreed dates they are allowed to eat biscuits, peanuts, fries (as an alternative), fish balls, burgers, chocolates, etc.

If one of them can’t control their cravings and eat outside their agreed dates. The violator will be fined with Php 100.00, and the amount that will be collected will be donated to a charity. I have no idea how much they have collected by that time, and if it’s enough to be donated to a charity or if they have agreed to use it for another cause. Anyway it’s up to them.

My cousins, however, did not renew the contract themselves. Instead, Khristine and I have decided to come up with a new one at the start of the year. Still, with the same rules, but with some changes into the exemptions and the penalty. We have agreed to use the amount to pay for food when we want to have a food trip.  And because back then, I still work as an Intern, I have to taste clients food for marketing purposes to which I have no control over, so we adjust it a little bit.

Right now, we have passed the middle of the year and I have adjusted a little bit with my chips cravings. Of course, we have to, we already spent almost Php 500.00 during the first three months as penalty fees. You know, sometimes you can’t help it right, there will come a point when you totally crave. Especially when there are temptations around you. And, Whenever that happens, both of us tell ourselves this mantra“You cannot eat that, it’s Php 100.00, eat biscuits instead”. I tell you, it works. And as months pass by, we find ourselves Congratulating each other for accomplishing our mission. We also find ourselves eating less chips on our “chips day”—which is the main goal: to eat less chips or eat nothing at all.

My cousin and I have agreed that our “Chips Days” will be every “5th” &“17th” of each month.

Control, Discipline and Honesty can be practiced in this Challenge.

We only made this agreement just for fun. So, I’m sorry if we have grammar errors writing this.
